Divorce does not have to Hurt your Credit

Divorce does not have to be a  catalyst for landing an ex-couple’s credit scores in the toilet. Yes, it can seem overwhelming but our skilled Finance Team Managers Rapid Discrete Financing can help you secure low rate financing even if you are low on funds and need to buy a good safe car.

Even for those with severely damaged credit or no credit, period, all hope is not lost, says Jim Gilbert. Even if your credit is wrecked in the divorce, you still have options for financing a car,” says Jim” People with damaged credit or no credit will get the benefit of doubt with Rapid Pre-Approval at Wheels and Deals  auto financing.”

Approved copy.jpeg

In a divorce, any joint debt held by both spouses continues to be reported on both credit reports until the note is retired or one party’s name is removed from the contract, “says  Jim ” If you still have a joint auto loan on the vehicle your ex is keeping and supposed to be paying, that car payment affects your credit score and could affect your lender’s evaluation of your ability to take on another car payment,” he explains.

Consider working with your ex to remove your name from any outstanding debt, and the title to any vehicle you are attached to but no longer own. This will protect your credit score from your ex’s late or missed payments in the future.  Any negative history will impact your credit score for up to seven years. But if you understand the details of your credit history . Our properly trained financial services managers, can pull and review your credit history with you and be  able to make a stronger case for your qualifications as a borrower.

If you face a low credit score and an unreliable recent income history, it’s time to get down to business. Here’s a plan of attack for landing an auto loan with affordable terms:

Get Pre-Approved
Jim says try us  first Rapid Discrete Pre-Approvals   and give us the day to work for you and get you financed because in the event you shop  multiple dealers, each will create an inquiry on your credit report, which can impact your score.

Be a Loyal Customer
“Wheels and Deals can get you the lowest rate because it is less expensive for us sell to a loyal customer than to find a new one. Plus the banks love our high sales volumes which also lower your interest rates. You are a winner at Wheels and Deals.

Prove Your Income
Credit history aside, surprisingly most of the time our Finance Team at Wheels and Deals  Rapid Discrete Financing  can have your income verification waived.  Jim says. In nearly every divorce, each person’s income is lower than when they were a married couple. So this works in your favour to..

That said, income is income, and if you now receive spousal or child support, or recently landed a part-time job, the lender must consider it all equally.

Tell Your Story
Electronically generated credit scores are not the only factor in lending decisions. Humans have a say, too. “Tell us your story of what happened,” Jim says. “Let us help  prove that you have always been responsible and explain your recent change in credit history, that can go a long way.” Ps (We know what works)

By showing your credit and income history; records of consistent, on-time payments; and bank and loan documents proving a stable work history, it is easier to prove that your recent change in family status is indeed a temporary challenge.

Consider a Co-Signer
A solid last resort is to find a credit-worthy co-signer who is willing to help out. This person should have a stable history of credit, income and residence, as well as proof of the ability to cover the loan in the event you lapse. Immediate relatives — especially those who live nearby — are the most attractive to lenders, Jones says.

Do Not Despair
In most cases, people with no credit or poor credit do find reasonable financing for a car at Canada’s Huggable Car Dealer ( Lenders love us and our customers) . If you need to accept a loan with a high interest rate, you can always refinance or buy another vehicle under better terms in a few years when you are back on your feet and your credit has improved.

“I’ve seen people go from qualifying for terms of 16 percent APR to 4 percent APR in two years,” Jim says. Again, sticking with us,  Wheels and Deals during this transition period can better your chances of graduating into more attractive terms.

And remember: The negative impact of divorce, like most things in life, does not have to last forever. In fact, the Credit.com survey found that 37 percent of respondents saw their credit score improve post-divorce.

GAP Insurance Protects Your Credit!

Auto Insurance Isn’t Always Enough. Protecting  Your Credit with GAP insurance makes sure that in the event of a total loss, you will receive an amount of compensation that fully covers the amount owing on the insured’s financing/lease agreement.  GAP is a form of automotive insurance that can be purchased if the insured vehicle’s book value is less than the remaining amount owed for the vehicle. Taxes and negative financing silently add up. Negative equity — when your car is worth less than what you owe on it.

Vehicle thefts and car accidents are traumatic enough for your customers. So imagine their frustration when the vehicle is rendered a total loss, and the insurance payment doesn’t even cover the amount they still owe — much less a down payment on another car. Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP Protection) from EFG Companies fills that critical gap for your valued customers, strengthening customer satisfaction while helping you increase your profit per unit sold.

GAP Protection: Customer selling points

In the event of theft or total loss, GAP protection provides valuable protection to your customers on both new and used vehicles by:

  • Making up the difference between the value of the vehicle and the amount owed in the event of theft or a total loss, up to $50,000
  • Paying up to $1,000 of the insurance deductible if the vehicle is recovered from theft
  • Paying up to 150 percent of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price on new cars and up to 150 percent of the average retail book value for used cars in the event of a total loss or unrecovered theft
  • Preserving each GAP protection contract holder’s credit rating by preventing debt accumulation

Wheels and Deals Hug of the Week goes to Dr. Pyke and her amazing team of volunteers (including Dr. Lance Schaefer and Dr. Matt Moore) saw 69 patients and provided over $16,500 worth of free dentistry.

Well, the Second Annual Dentistry From The Heart event has come and gone! Once again, it was an awesome day of teamwork, smiles, and great experiences.  Dr. Pyke and her amazing team of volunteers (including Dr. Lance Schaefer and Dr. Matt Moore) saw 69 patients and provided over $16,500 worth of free dentistry.  Opened our doors at 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 1st and worked straight through until 6 p.m. We are so grateful to be able to use our skills and time to give back to our community, and we have to give a huge shout out to our sponsors whose generous contributions allowed us to do so:

–Patterson Dental and Henry Schein Dental, who donated filling material and other dental supplies.
–Crest Oral-B and the New Brunswick Dental Society, who donated toothbrushes, floss, and other oral health items for our patient “goody bags”.
–Ross Drug, who donated medications and offered a discount on prescriptions.
–Pita Pit, who donated lunch for the volunteers and coupons for the goody bags.
–Evolve Fitness at Kingswood, who donated free fitness coupons for the goody bags.
–Tim Hortons, who supplied free coffee and Timbits for the patients as they waited for treatment.
–Coveys, who donated posters for the event.

And most of all, thank you to the patients—you were so wonderful to treat and patient throughout the long day!

The most exciting news to come out of the day is that several other dentists in the Fredericton area are thinking of hosting their own events next year, so the movement is definitely snowballing. Together, we can greatly improve the oral health of our community!

“Quintessential: the purest, most perfect or most typical form, manifestation or embodiment of some quality or class. This photo depicts the Quintessential Canadian. I find there are many symbols in this photo that truly represent Canada. We can see my father, a second generation Canadian of Dutch descent, wearing traditional Aboriginal snowshoes. I think that this demonstrates the multiculturalism of this country. He is walking on a large ice sheet in Chaleur Bay, the name of which is attributed to Jacques Cartier, one of the first explorers of Canada. On the other side of the Bay, we can see Quebec. This reminds us that our country has two official languages. I find that these are all signature elements of Canada that define this country very well.”

Jim Gilbert Canada’s Huggable Car Dealer: Has been a Fredericton Daily Gleaner Ask A Professional for over 10 years…

Recently I was asked in my Ask A Professional Column in the Fredericton Daily Gleaner how important it is to make sure you have a proper MVI or an MVI guarantee from a selling dealer or an individual for that matter.

What I have seen over my 36 years buying and selling vehicles in Fredericton. Is when people are buying a vehicle here or there, thinking their saving money by sometimes getting a cheaper price elsewhere or buying a much higher kilometre vehicle. Usually it only only takes weeks and never more than a few months before I get a call and a hear a very sad voice that say’s “Jim, I should have bought from you, the car I bought from another dealer is only 2 months old and it already needs $1500.00 worth of work. I do not have the money to pay for the hidden repairs of Tires, brakes etc. “What can I do?”.

I think to myself we told you so, we even showed you what we do different but you were lead to believe you were saving $800. and now you are stuck shelling out $1500.00. you didn’t plan or money you do not have.  Worst part is before years end you will be spending more again.

At Wheels and Deals we give you a 20/50/365 day Guarantee, yes we guarantee all our MVI’s for 20,000 Kilometres, 50/50, for one full year (365 days). I personally make it well known through out Jim Gilberts Wheels and Deals that I want and demand all vehicles inspected 200% above industry standard. Not like other car dealers that as long as it passes to day that is ok. I demand that Canada’s Huggable Car Dealer’s vehicles  pass for a year or I will pay half of any repair you may need in your first year. Along with the fact that all our vehicles carry the balance of factor warranties, you should be pleasantly impressed with your no or low cost Wheels and Deals vehicle.

 attachment[1]

How do I do it? It is simple, I see your car different, I want you and all our customers as repeat and referral customers, we want you back, we need your family and friends to sing our praises, enjoy their car buying experience and tell all their family and friends about how great we hugged them and looked after you. I want to spend my money on your vehicle that other dealers keep as profit, I, want to sell you again and again, we operate on way less profit but far more sales and guess what in the long run that equals more retained income for both of us. We are Happy, Huggable  and are in it for long term success and repeat, referred customers. Keep in mind we can repair our vehicles a lot less than you can repair yours once you buy. So when I spend an average of $1200.00  per vehicle extra, than the used car norm which is $200.00. You are receiving almost double that in value, yes my $1200.00 service that I do before you drive away could cost you $1600. to $1800. at a local garage or a new car dealer with-in  months if you buy else where.   Hugs JIM

What customers say about us…..

Subject: RE: Thank You

Hi Chelsea,

I’d be more than happy to share with you our experience at Wheels and Deals.  My wife and I came in on Saturday April 25th and went home later that day with a 2014 Ford truck, a 2014 Ford Fusion  – and 2 bears.  It was a great day – very exciting!

We’d had experiences with various dealerships in the past and to be honest, purchasing a car was not on the top of my favorite things to do list.  This was mainly because of the impersonal way we were treated even after years of dealing with the same companies.  They barely knew who we were when we walked in the door.  Customer loyalty means nothing to them.  Plus the fact that I’d always felt I could have done better “deal-wise”.  We’d come away with a new car but a not-so-great feeling about the whole experience.

Wheels and Deals – we came across  vehicles on your web site, which is quite well done, by the way – called to make an appointment – Justin said “none needed, just come on in”.  When we arrived he met us at the door and started the day with a tour of the facility.  It is impressive.  I appreciated hearing about the inspection process that takes place on every vehicle you sell.  The cars are cleaned spotless inside and out and under the hood.  Test drive without the salesman – good.  After purchase service on a couple of minor issues – excellent!

Justin Roy – a likeable guy right from the start with a whole ton of knowledge about every make and model and option in a car.  You can’t stick him on anything.  I enjoy dealing with experts and Justin fits that description very well.  I’m sure I asked a lot of questions, some of them quite basic and he was always eager to share his knowledge without talking down to me.  My wife commented later how she liked that he answered her directly and didn’t practice the “sell to the man” attitude we’ve run into in the past when buying a car from other dealers.  Justin is professional, a great guy and made the day very enjoyable.

It’s nice to see good old fashioned customer service is making a comeback and Wheels and Deals is leading the charge!

All in all, we had a great experience and have already recommended you to our friends.

Canada’s Huggable Car Dealer,  will be giving Abby and Liam, one of our Signature 3 foot Singing Teddy Bears and a $20.00 Gas Card for being selected “The Jim Gilberts Wheels and Deals of the Week” for their very helpful efforts..

Shepherd’s House Orphanage Project: We are excited that you are joining with us in the mandate given to Evangelist Aaron Nelson and his wife Nathalie Nelson to help the less fortunate in Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere.

Our Goals and Vision:
The SHM was organized exclusively for charitable purposes. Specifically, our main activities are as follows:

A Better Life:
Daily life is a struggle of survival for the children in Haiti. An estimated 65 percent of the population lives in poverty. In Rural areas that number is about 80 percent. More than 200 000 kids live in the streets. Our goal is to save as many as we can by bringing them off the streets and out of poverty to a new home and teach them the skills necessary to lift themselves out of misery and into a bright future.

Health Care:
Infant mortality is 76 per 1,000 births. More than 1 child in 10 died before the age of 5. There is only 1 physician for ever 17, 064 inhabitants. (Haiti population is about 9 million) Upon arrival at the organization, each child will receive a good health care program. We will hire a private doctor for them. Ever child will undergo several medical tests during their first 6 months and/or every time when need be. The best medicine and vitamins will be provided when needed.

Better Nutrition:
Malnutrition affects almost every child in Haiti. At Shepherd’s House Ministries, the children will be provided with clean water, vitamins, and 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner.)

Better Education:
40 percent of the population is under the age of 14. Close to half of primary aged children are not attending schools. Haiti had an illiteracy rate of over 55 percent, the highest in the Americas. Our children will attend a non-discriminatory primary-secondary school in the country. We will use every good tool necessary such as: Reading materials, tutors, field trips, and sports to better educate those precious souls. We believe that every child has a right to go to school and we will make it happen.

When one comes under, they will be fed, clothed, loved, and housed. They will receive treatment for their addictions and illnesses. They will be counseled, served, listened to, educated, and edified to their highest potential.

Operation Compassion:
Operation Compassion is to provide, information, and resources to help fulfill the call to feed the hungry, care for the elderly and to reach out to those in need.

Men and Women of Action:
Our mission will provide men and women the opportunity to show the love of Christ by participating in hands-on ministry through volunteer service in construction, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance while enhancing other ministries so that they will be more effective, efficient and fruitful in their participation in the Great Commission.

Youth:
To mobilize a generation of disciples that know, love and follow Jesus Christ and actively advance the kingdom of God to the nations of the earth. To cultivate a discipleship movement that will gather, equip, mobilize, and make disciples, that will perpetuate disciples that make disciples, leaders that develop leaders, and churches that plant churches.

To accomplish these goals, Shepherd’s House Ministries purchased land in Gressier, Haiti in June 2007. Engineering Ministries International (EMI) went to Haiti to design the orphanage at Shepherd’s House request. The design includes two Dormitories, a K-12 School, a Multiuse Building (with kitchen, dining, chapel, and study facilities), a Sports field and open space for the children to play and explore. Each dorm will house 100 children in ten bedrooms, one for girls and the other for boys. The school will allow the children to receive a traditional education with opportunities to learn trades and life skills.

Utilities are required to sustain and educate each child and the new property has no water or sewer and although electricity is nearby, it is expensive and undependable. Therefore this design includes potable water system with a well and for the waste water; a septic/leach field system. For power, a diesel back up generator is included. A future self sustaining electrical/power system is desired; possibility utilizing Solar power.

Please prayerfully consider how may become part of this labor of love to glorify God and serve the children of Haiti. We look forward to hearing how the Lord leads you. If you would like more information please contact us.

THE JIM GILBERT’S WHEELS AND DEALS #HugOfTheWeek GOES TO… CARTER MCLAUGHLIN, AND 100 MEN WHO CARE FREDERICTON !! JOIN CARTER AND OTHER LOCAL MEN WHO SHOW HOW “MANLY” THEY ARE… BY MAKING A MEASURABLE, POSITIVE IMPACT IN THE GREATER FREDERICTON AREA !! FROM CANADA’S HUGGABLE CAR DEALER & Bell Media

100 Men Who Care are Very honoured to be the recipient (along with all members of @100MenWhoCare) of @WheelsandDeals “Hug of the Week this week.

100 men who care gleaner picture         Austism 100 men who care

Very happy to report that we presented cheques to Autism Connections Fredericton tonight amounting to $8900 by the time the evening was over and all cheques counted. This number hopes to inflate to at least $9500 in the next day. If you’d like to contribute, you don’t even have to be a member. You can drop off a cheque for $100, made out to “Autism Connections Fredericton” to Vagrant Creative100 Men Who Care

Care like a man. Show your community just how manly you can be by joining other local men who want to make a measurable, positive impact right here in the Greater Fredericton Area.

So we get 100 (or more) manly men (guys, dudes, bros, gentlemen, whatever you prefer) together, each with a $100 cheque in their pocket to give to 1 local charity that we all vote on that night. BAM! $10,000 in real money to a charity in our own backyard. We do it 4 times a year.

How do you get involved? It’s simple. You join us right here on this website and make a commitment to donating $100 4 times in that year. When you sign up, you nominate a charity. Then you stand by your commitment shoulder to shoulder with other local men… attend the meetings and bring your cheque!  It couldn’t be more simple.  JOIN US and make a difference.

How We Work

You don’t have to give a lot, alone.  You just have to give a little, together.  It’s a simple concept that enables us to make a positive impact in our community, together as a group of like-minded men.

The Basics

We don’t technically exist.  We are not registered.  We have no directors, presidents or treasurers.  We have no bank account.  We have no operating budget, because our members write their cheques directly to the recipient charity.  “We”, collectively, are just a group of guys getting together because we care about our community.  We are not an entity, but a movement.  Our core group of organizers are simply volunteers generously donating their time to try and make a difference.

The goal of the group is to support the wonderful work our local charities do, in funds, exposure, and awareness.

How It Works

  • Charities are nominated by the membership. There are eligibility requirements.
  • 3 charities are randomly chosen by blind draw from our list of member-nominated charities.
  • Representatives from the 3 selected charities will be asked to make a five-minute presentation to the group about that charities initiative and why they are deserving of the group’s vote.
  • After the presentations, a ballot is held and the charity with the most votes by simple majority will be the recipient.
  • All members must then write out their cheque to the charity with the most votes – no exceptions.
  • The selected organization will receive a group donation of $10,000 or more.

union-street-fredericton-fire

An elderly woman who lost her apartment and all of her belongings in this Union Street fire in Fredericton is now receiving assistance from the group Big Hearts Small City. (My New Brunswick/Twitter)A community group called Big Hearts Small City, based in Moncton, has stepped in to help a 70-year-old woman who lost her Fredericton apartment and all of her belongings in a fire on Union Street on Friday.

Jason Surette, the founder of the organization, works closely with the Red Cross, which provides three days of lodging to people in emergency situations.

“Part of our task is to try to help someone find a place to go after that three-day period and that’s what we did over the weekend.”

Surette says he started Big Hearts Small City after noticing there was a lot of community support for people who lost their homes to fire as far as donating clothing and furniture, but if they didn’t have insurance and weren’t receiving social assistance they were often homeless.

“When it comes to a place to stay people don’t think of that. You can donate them all the stuff in the world but if they don’t have a place to put it, it’s not going to be any good for them.”

Surette expanded his services to Fredericton in January and says so far he is working with Killam Properties, although he would welcome other property management partners.

He says Killam Properties was “very generous” and willing to help the elderly woman who had no insurance and no where to go.

“It was such an elderly lady that it did take a little bit of extra time to find her a place within her budget and to meet her physical requirements so they’ve agreed to put her up in a fully furnished apartment until they can find a place for her to go within the Killam Properties network.”

Surette says the 70-year-old woman was very grateful after such a terrifying experience.

“All she got out of her apartment when the fire happened was she grabbed her jacket, she had a nightie on and her winter boots and that’s all she got out of her house.”

The century-old home that had two apartments was so badly damaged by the fire it was immediately torn down.

Members of the Fredericton Fire Department did go back into the home with family members before the home was demolished and retrieved a few documents and family heirlooms.

Surette says the woman is very grateful and plans to work with the Fredericton Anti-Poverty Organization to collect whatever items she needs when she does find a permanent home.

“She really thought she was going to have nowhere to go and when she found out it was a furnished apartment she said, ‘Do I have to bring pots and pans with me?’ and I’m like, ‘No you just have to bring yourself and a little bit of food with you, everything is in the building, in the apartment for you.'”

Surette says since he started Big Hearts Small City he estimates he has helped about 100 fire victims.
